Maria Fiorini Ramirez is
President & Chief Executive Officer of Maria Fiorini Ramirez, Inc., (MFR)
an independent global economic and financial consulting firm formed in
August 1992. Mrs. Ramirez and her colleagues are widely respected for their
unbiased analysis of economic trends and other issues that affect markets and
investment decisions. With global reach and an international clientele, MFR has
access to a unique blend of economic expertise and market intelligence. Mrs.
Ramirez is known for her assessment of the interaction between economic policy
and political trends and their effect on investment returns. Her advice is held
in high regard by a variety of institutions around the globe.
Expertise and Recognition
In 2004, Mrs. Ramirez
received a Metro International Fulbright Award for Contributing to
International Understanding, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. The
Wall Street Journal named Maria Fiorini Ramirez as the top inflation
forecaster from 2001-2004, as one of the top three economists for the year
2000, and selected her as the #1 economic forecaster in the first half of 2001.
Mrs. Ramirez is a frequent
speaker at U.S. and international forums and is a regular guest on a variety of
television and radio networks such as CNBC, CNN, CNNfn, ABC, Fox News,
Bloomberg Financial News, PBS, CBS, and TV Tokyo. She is also a regular
contributor to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan’s leading financial publication.
Corporate Experience
Mrs. Ramirez began her career in
1967 with Meinhard Commercial a subsidiary of CIT. In 1968 she joined American
Express International Banking Corporation and learned various aspects of
banking while earning a BA in Business Administration/Economics from Pace
University. In 1973, she spent one year as a credit analyst at Banca Nazionale
del Lavoro in New York. In 1974 she joined Merrill Lynch where during her 10
year tenure she was appointed First Vice President and Senior Money Market
Economist. Mrs. Ramirez became a Senior Vice President and Senior Money Market
Economist at Becker Paribas in 1984 when the firm was acquired by Merrill Lynch.
From 1984 to 1990 (when the firm dissolved) she was Managing Director and Money
Market Economist for Drexel Burnham Lambert.
In March 1990, she founded
Maria Ramirez Capital Consultants, Inc., a subsidiary of John Hancock Freedom
Securities Corporation. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Ramirez
created an economic consulting business and was responsible for the management
of the firm’s global fixed income funds. In 1992, Mrs. Ramirez established
Maria Fiorini Ramirez, Inc., an independent global economic and
financial consulting firm.
April 2005: Appointed Director of AMF funds Chicago, a family of fixed income funds.
February 2004: Appointed
Director of Schroder Hedge Funds based in Bermuda.
May 2002: Appointed Trustee
of Pace University. Member of the Business Advisory Board of Pace University
Lubin School of Business since 1997, and honored as its distinguished award
recipient for 2001.
February 2001: Appointed
Trustee of Notre Dame High School in New York City.
April 2000: Appointed
Director of Independence Community Bank NY and Independence Foundation.
February 1996: Appointed to
Investment Policy and Product Review Committees of Edward Jones & Co. in St
Louis.
1991 to 2000: Director Arlington Capital, London, a private equity firm.
1996 to 1998: Director of Mutual funds group -Security Benefit Life, Topeka, Kansas.

Mrs. Ramirez has been member of The Economic Club of NY since 1984 and is a past President of The Money Marketeers Club of NY. In the past 35 years she has actively supported and served on Boards of for profit and not for profit organizations such as The Medic Alert Foundation, Ballet Hispanico, The New York Women’s Agenda (NYWA), Big Brother and Big Sister of New Jersey, International Institute of New Jersey, and various other organizations.
